A River of Syrup
On January 15th, 1919, Boston experienced a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with syrup burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that raged through the streets Molasses Catastrophe like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Buildings were flattened under the power of the unstoppable goo.
